3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for College Level Reading and ENGL 101. A survey of art created in the non-Western traditions including Asia, Africa, the Americas, Australia, and the Pacific regions. Through slide lectures and class discussions, the course examines functions and meanings of visual art and architecture within their religious, social, historical, and cultural contexts. Students will develop visual, analytical, and critical thinking skills by examining the arts of these cultures individually as well as comparatively. (CSU, UC, AVC)
