3-0-3. Prerequisite: ENGL 1101 with a grade of C or better A survey of Western culture as reflected in significant drama from the Renaissance to the present. Plays are studied in terms of style, content, theme and theatrical conventions. Consideration is given to each play as a product of its age and its overall place in the dramatic canon. Watching productions of some of the plays-on video or in live performance-supplements the reading.
