The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the basic concepts and operations applicable in a disaster environment, particularly for major disasters, and enhance understanding of what the proper roles and responsibilities of various local and state emergency management officials. Students will study the many disciplines for response and recovery and discuss who they are, why they matter and how these roles and responsibilities relate to those carried out by the federal government. To foster multi-level partnership, the course emphasizes the problem-solving aspects of disaster operations as well as associated coordination requirements. Prerequisite: ER 150. F/S (C, S)
