Course Transferable to CSU Hours: 54 hours LEC This is an introductory course in fi ber optic theory and operation including the complete fi ber optic communication system. It includes fi ber optic terminology and instruction in the proper use of tools and equipment associated with fi ber optic installation and maintenance. Tests of the fi ber optic systems are performed using sophisticated equipment such as optical power meters and Optical Time Domain Refl ectometer (OTDR). A fi eld trip is required. This course may be taken twice for credit using different equipment.
