Prerequisites: LEGL110, LEGL140 Reviews the procedural process of civil litigation and the attendant role of the paralegal. Provides practical instructions from the inception of a legal case to the time of trial including client interviews, case evaluation, file preparation, preparation of pleadings, filing and service, discovery procedure, pre-trial motion practice, settlement practice, and alternative dispute resolution. The paralegal will be exposed to both federal and state rules of procedure, with emphasis on the latter. Offered in spring. (2003)
