Introduction to the philosophical components of American deaf culture, such as types and causes of deafness, and the deaf community as defined according to language, values, culture, and attitudes. Included is a study of deaf advocacy, services, education, and legal rights of deaf people. Prerequisite: ASL B1. Hours: 54 lect/disc. Field trips required. Offered: F, S.
