Prerequisites: DEHC1003, DES 1020, DES 1200, DES 1800. Corequisites: DEHL1800, DESL1840. This course provides the student theoretical knowledge behind the process of oral risk assessment, dental hygiene diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation in individualized patient care. The student is introduced to advanced periodontal assessment and charting, basic root planing, instrument sharpening and the interpretation of radiographic findings. Identification and special management techniques for the anxious, mentally challenged, child, pregnant and victims of abuse are introduced.
