ReliefThis course is an introduction to relief printmaking techniques such as woodcut, collagraph, and monotype processes. Students carve images from blocks of wood and linoleum or build plates from cardboard and found materials. Printed either by hand or on the press, both methods offer unlimited potential to create a variety of images. Students learn through lectures, demonstration, hands-on projects, and critique. Projects include one-color prints, reduction, and multi-block processes. Prerequisite: ART 13 or permission of the instructor. Two hours of critique and four studio hours a week.
