CodingThis course introduces the characteristics and conventions of the latest version of the International Classification of Disease as used in the United States. Students learn how to use alphabetic indexes and tabular lists to locate precise diagnosis codes to identify diseases, disorders, and conditions for patients in all healthcare settings. Students also learn how to provide procedure codes for hospital inpatients. Prerequisite: HCI 13, and BIO 15 or BIO 34. Pre- or co-requisite: HCI 37. Three hours of lecture per week.
