GISThe environmental principles learned in Earth Science will be applied to the evaluation of a site. A series of sites will be chosen and a building project or hazardous material spill proposed on the site. Working in groups, students will survey the site, evaluate groundwater flow patterns, weather patterns, vegetative cover, soils and topography. All of the information will be mapped into a GIS system. Students will then evaluate the impact of the project or spill on the site evaluating areas of critical environmental concern such as wetlands, wildlife, water supply, flood control, storm damage prevention and many others. Offered evenings only. Prerequisite: ENV 11 or ENV 90 and ENV 94. Two class hours and two laboratory hours a week. Instructional Support Fee applies3 credits Fall, Spring; evening/Weekend only
