Students will study the art and science of singing in Voice I. The class will be divided into two sections: in the first section, students will learn the correct way to produce a healthy, safe vocal sound by means of bel canto techniques intended to strengthen breathing support, projection, range and flexibility. In the second part of the class, the students will work on assigned pieces of music and present their work to the class. Interpretation, style, phrasing, etc., will be studied as a part of the performances.
