Surveys major British writers from 1785 to the present, including representative texts by such writers as Blake, Wollstonecraft, Wordsworth, Keats, Austen, Dickens, Conrad, Yeats, Woolf, Joyce, Eliot, and Pinter; also includes texts by major non-British writers in English, such as Beckett, Gordimer, Achebe, Friel, Heaney, and Rushdie. Relates the literature to the social, political, and cultural contexts in which it was written. Transfer Credit: Transfers to CSU. Transfers to UC. CAN ENGL10.
