3 units; 3 hours Lecture Prerequisite: ENGL 1A/1AH/1AMC/1AMCH. Surveys old and new books for children, including the nature of literary values in these works. Standards of evaluation are discussed. Emphasis on fiction, folklore, storytelling, and the history of children's books. Transfer Credit: Transfers to CSU. Transfers to UC, with limits: ENGL 20A & 20B combined-maximum credit-1 course.
