3 units; 3 hours Lecture, 1 hour Laboratory Corequisite: MUS 1M. Recommended Preparation: MUS 6, MUS 5 or equivalent skills; eligibility for ENGL 100 and READ 100. Introduces and develops the study of common practice harmony and melody through figured bass and analysis as represented by the works of J.S. Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. Knowledge of scales, key signatures, intervals and chords, equivalent to MUS 5 or MUS 6, is necessary to succeed in this course. Transfer Credit: Transfers to CSU. Transfers to UC.
