In this introduction to the field of computer science, students use hands-on projects and teamwork to design, implement, and test programs in Java which can be run on any Java-aware browser. Good programming style, expression, and documentation are emphasized. Object-oriented programming methodology, graphical user interfaces, debugging techniques, and string processing are covered. Java provides a good introduction to programming for students in any academic discipline. (This course does not satisfy the mathematics general education or CSI transfer requirements.) Prerequisite: MAT030 or satisfactory basic skills assessment score / 3 credits. Offered in the Fall and Spring.
