This course is an introduction to the elements of visual language (line, shape, tone, texture, color, light, volume, negative space) in 3D form. Through exploring a range of materials to achieve 3D designs, techniques and principles introduced in ART101 are applied. Students solve 3D design problems by creating modeled and constructed forms both in relief and free-standing form. Historical references are made to support the development and understanding of the work. This course can inspire students to explore their creative expression in sculpture. (4 class hours plus 2 additional studio hours arranged) Corequisite: ART101 / 3 credits; may be repeated once for credit.
