A mastery-based introductory course in algebra designed to help students prepare for intermediate algebra. Topics covered include: properties and operations on real numbers, linear equations, ratio and proportion, percents, geometric figures, graphing, linear systems, exponents, polynomial, factoring and the development of word problem analysis and solution. This course uses a mastery-based approach. (This course does not satisfy the mathematics general education requirement.) Prerequisite: MAT020 or satisfactory basic skills assessment score. Letter grade or Pass-Fail / 3 nondegree credits. Offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.
