This is an expository course in the history and traditions of the Muslim faith, studying the key and fundamental concepts of that faith. As the title indicates, the course focus will be on the beginnings of Islam, the life of Mohammed, the significance of the Hijrah, and the history of the early caliphs, rather than upon the modern development of Islam. Prerequisite: A Previous Religion course / 3 credits.
