Prerequisite: PRN 0000C. Corequisite: PRN 0381C. Students begin the study of drug therapy. This course includes the PN scope of practice in medication administration as defined by the Florida Nurse Practice Act. Besides reviewing the principles of pharmacology, the course will focus on medication categories: pain relief, antineoplastics, anti-infectives, endocrine, gastrointestinal, immune system, reproductive, and urinary. Application to disease conditions, allergic responses to medication therapy and nursing interventions are also included. Clinical experience is included in Medical/Surgical I and II as well as Maternal Nursing and Pediatric Nursing.
