Class hours: 64-72 lecture. Prerequisite: Arabic 1 or one year of high school Arabic Transfer Credit: CSU; UC credit pending. Continued presentation of the four basic language skills in functional modern Arabic - aural, oral, reading, and writing. Skills focus on the continuing practice of Arabic script, correct pronunciation, vocabulary expansion, and applying the rules of grammar and tense to simple declarative sentences and short conversations. Arabic cultural norms, values, and customs are explored and serve as a basis for additional skill-building practice. Fourteen hours of supplemental instruction in a Success Center that supports this course is required for reinforcement of language skills.
