Course is offered only on a pass/no-pass basis. Class hours: 48-54 lecture. Prerequisite: Placement recommendation by the ESL assessment test, or satisfactory completion of ESL- 544. A communicative approach to advanced spoken English. Conversational tactics, presentation strategies, and debating skills help build strong fluency and comprehension of academic topics. Prepares students for degree-applicable courses. Eight hours of supplemental instruction in a Success Center that supports this course is required. May be taken twice. 4930.81
