Course is offered only on a pass/no-pass basis. Class hours: 48-54 lecture. Prerequisite: Placement recommendation by the ESL assessment test, or satisfactory completion of ESL- 538. Not Degree Applicable. A high-intermediate writing and grammar course. Focus moves the writer away from personal to academic writing. Emphasis: syntax, mechanics, usage, sentence types, paragraphs, purpose, and audience. Eight hours of supplemental instruction in a Success Center that supports this course is required.
