Class is offered only on a pass/no-pass basis. Class hours: 48-54 lecture. Prerequisite: Placement recommendation by the Chaffey ESL assessment test. Non Credit Course Beginning course in English as a Second Language that focuses on survival English skills and introduces the student to the structure of the American classroom. Emphasis is on basic vocabulary and deducing meaning from the written and spoken word. This course - in conjunction with ESL-641 - prepares students for English as a Second Language credit courses. Ten hours of supplemental instruction in a Success Center that supports this course is required. May be taken twice. 4930.82
