Explores the ancient Greco-Roman utopian tradition in its two branches: literary depictions of mythological or fantastic utopian visions, including representations of societies remote in time ("Golden Age") or place (Homer's Phaeacia); and literature that criticizes contemporary society or describes an idealized "possible" society (Plato's Republic; Aristophanes' Ekklesiazusae).
