This is a survey of the events, issues, forces, and ideas that shaped the African- American experience from colonial times to the present. Special emphasis will be given to the upheavals and transformations in the lives of African- Americans caused by slavery, racism, emancipation, segregation, and the struggle for equality and human rights. Lecture/Lab Hours: Three hours per week.
