This course examines some contemporary responses to the human condition in Africa. Topics will include Democracy, human rights, instability, social justice, identity, community and solidarity. These topics will be approached through the works of Canonical figures such as Leopold Senghor, K. Nkrumah, Frantz Fanon, Steve Biko and the recent analytical (T. Kiros), Hermeneutical (T. Serequeberhan), Existential (L. Gordon) Historicism and poeticism (P. Henry) and Postcolonial Misolocation (M. Diawara).
