This course is designed to address the postcolonial identities and the cross cultural issues of women through anthropology and women's writings. Identifying select cases from Africa and Asia. We will analyze the cross-cultural issues and meaning of gender, the cultural construction of gender, the significant ideology that defines the paradigm through which we come to understand a woman's domain, agency and empowerment, and the modes of behavior in the spheres of everyday life.
