(Prerequisite: WLD 104) Introduces the major theory, safety practices, and techniques for SMAW in the over head position. Qualification tests and overhead positions are used in the evaluation of student progress toward making industrial standard welds. Topics include: SMAW safety and health practices; production of welds of uni form width and height; manipulation of electrodes to produce specification welds; and uses of low hydrogen, mild steel, and other common electrodes in overhead position welding.
