Class hours: 2.0 Lecture/4.0 Laboratory Prerequisite: ART 130B or equivalent with a grade of Pass or "C" or higher. This course is designed for students who want a deeper understanding of painting: its history, theories, creative purposes, and technical skills. Through lectures, discussions, and studio work, students discover, articulate, and bring into being their own artistic identity and style. Practical assistance is given on an individual basis. Emphasis is placed on the student's progression from idea to technical means and visual accomplishment. Students may initiate their own painting projects, or use what subject matter is presented to the class. This course may be taken for a maximum of 2 times. Transfer Credit: CSU; UC
