A study of the process of directing through the experience of directing a one-act or full-length play for public performance. Classroom discussion focuses on works in progress, with special emphasis on the problems of translating a text to the stage; working with actors, designers, playwrights; composition and creating stage business; style; rhythm. May be repeated for credit. Signature of instructor required for registration. Prerequisite: THEA 45, stage management of department production, and permission of instructor. Offered every semester.
