An integrated treatment of basic elements of the theory, analysis and aural skills of common Practice Era (tonal) music. Includes rhythm; clefs; major, minor and modal scales; keys; intervals; triads and seventh-chords; inversions; and elementary species counterpoint. Emphasis is on integrating an intellectual grasp of elementary music theory with practical, aural skills. (sight singing and ear training). Prerequisite: MUS 1 or permission of instructor. Offered fall semester.
