Explores the engagement of Latin American literature and criticism with non-Latin American bodies of literary and cultural theory (which may include poststructuralism, postcolonialism, postmodernism and cultural studies), addressing tensions between the autochthonous production of theoretical frameworks and their import from other contexts.
