This course examines ancient civilizations in and near the Mediterranean Sea. Coverage includes ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome. Particular emphasis is placed upon the evolution of political, social, economic, and military systems and on the historical relationships among the major Mediterranean civilizations. Lecture/Lab Hours: Three hours per week.
