(Prerequisite: WLD 104) Introduces the major theory, safery practices, and techniques for SMAW in the vertical position. Qualification tests and vertical positions are used in the evaluation of student progress toward making in dustrial standard welds. Topics include: SMAW safety and health practices; production of welds of uniform width and height; manipulation of electrodes to produce specification welds; and uses of low hydrogen, mild steel, and other common electrodes in vertical position welding.
