(Prerequisite: WLD 104) Introduces the major theory, safety practices, and techniques for SMAW in the hori zontal position. Qualification tests and horizontal posi tions are used in the evaluation of student progress toward making industrial standard welds. Topics include: SMAW safety and health practices; production of welds of uniform width and height; manipulation of electrodes to produce specification welds; horizontal joints; and uses of low hy drogen, mild steel, and other common electrodes in hori zontal position welding.
