ALCB 201 - Beginning Lip Reading

0.5 Unit Designed for adults with acquired, congenital or progressive hearing impairment. Includes basic sounds of the English language and how production of basic speech sounds appears on the lips and face of the speaker. Mechanics of the ear and sound will be presented. Physiological problems related to hearing will be discussed as well as some technological solutions. Practical experience in lip reading will be provided. Prerequisite: Medically verified disability. Repeatability: Any combination of ALCB 201 & 201X may be taken a maximum of six times for credit. One and one-half hours lecture-laboratory for each half unit of credit. GE Area: Non-GE Applicable
