0.5 Unit Formerly: LINC 206T This is a comprehensive course to learn to use email and the Internet. Participants will learn how to understand the vocabulary and anatomy of email and web addresses, distinguish between the different types of email accounts, and learn appropriate netiquette, and ethical and legal issues related using the Internet in the classroom. An array of online educational resources to enhance the curriculum will be given. Participants will explore online projects, lesson plans, and resources from around the world. Netscape Communicator an d Microsoft Internet Explorer will be the tools used. The course includes: How to use the Internet from home or school, hands-on experience with E-Mail, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and Listservs, Basics of the Browser, Bookmarks, Search Engines, and Basic Searching Strategies. It is intended for continuing education. Advisories: Familiarity with PC or Mac recommended. Basic Internet skills. Repeatability: May be taken six times for credit. One-half hour lecture, one-half hour terminal time. GE Area: Non-GE Applicable
