Study and preparation of beginning-level materials suitable for the large jazz ensemble. This course is intended for the less experienced player in this idiom. The basic jazz techniques related to big band performance will be stressed. Attendance at all scheduled performances is mandatory. Prerequisite: Enrollment subject to audition. Repeatability: Any combination of MUSP 35, 35X, 35Y & 35Z may be taken for a maximum of 48 units. Eight hours lecture-laboratory, twelve hours laboratory. GE Area: Non-GE Applicable
