(4.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Three lecture and three laboratory hours weekly.) A course designed to acquaint the beginner with the materials, techniques, and experience of painting with watercolor. Frequent "critique" sessions, lectures, and demonstrations willexamine paper selection and reaction to the medium, the tendency of watercolor to flow, and its qualities of transparency and evaporation. The aim is to thoroughly familiarize the student with the distinctive qualities of watercolor. (CSU/UC) CSU Area C-1
