ARCH 120 - Beginning Architectural Drafting

(4.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Three lecture and three laboratory hours weekly.) This course will introduce students interested in interior design, architecture, engineering, building construction, landscape architecture, and other design related fields to the fundamentals of architectural and freehand drawing. Students will learn hard line drafting skills and architectural conventions. They will learn the appropriate applications for the following architectural drawings: plan, section, elevation, paraline, and perspective. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of drawings in the communication between designers, clients and builders, and on the relationship between three dimensional form and its two dimensional representation on paper.
