(4.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Three lecture and three laboratory hours weekly.) An introductory level studio course that encourages students to express themselves by using and understanding the elements of 2-D art: line, shape, texture, value, color, perspective, and space. Principles of composition such as balance, repetition, variation, and proportion will be explored using a wide variety of media that may include: ink, pencil, charcoal, painting, collage, printmaking, papier-mache, and found material mixed media. This course is required for art majors and highly recommended for all art students. (CSU/UC) CSU Area C-1, CAN ART 14
