Description:

(3.0 Units) (Prerequisite: Art 187 or Art 190. Three lecture hours weekly.) This course is intended to develop proficiency in the controlled use of light, both "on-location" and in the studio. Ambient, tungsten and flash lighting, mixed lighting techniques as well as the characteristics of different qualities of light are explored. Various camera formats, using black and white film as well as color transparency film can be used. Diverse examples of lighting techniques used in both commercial and fine art will be shown. This is a good choice for art majors to increase their understanding of light, and to learn to photograph their own artwork. Also a good choice for students in fields that require documentation of fieldwork subjects. (CSU)
