(4.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Two lecture and six laboratory hours weekly.) This course, designed for students with a desire to become auto technicians, provides training in diagnosing and servicing modern automotive electronic systems used on cars, pickups, light trucks, and utility vehicles. The course covers the diagnostic thought process used to diagnose and repair cranking, charging, ignition, air bag, lighting systems, gauge and instrument panels, horn, wiper/washer, and accessory systems. This class is a skillscompetency based curriculum. In order to pass this class each student must demonstrate his/her competency to perform skills necessary to qualify for technician positions, which require a minimum of supervision upon employment. May be taken four times for credit. (CSU)
