(0.5 Unit) (No prerequisite. Corequisite: Geology 126 or Geology 127A or 127B or 127AB. Twenty-six and one-fourth laboratory hours during a two-week period.) An introductory chemistry course specifically designed to apply chemical concepts and experimental techniques to Geology 126 and 127. Such chemical concepts as bonding, hydrolysis, pH, and thermodynamics will be explored. Chemical techniques, including instrumentation, necessary for geological fieldwork will include qualitative analysis of water-soluble salts. May be taken three times for credit. (CSU)
