(2.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Corequisite: Drama 245. One lecture and three laboratory hours weekly.) This class will cover the techniques necessary for the actor to analyze the text of a play by William Shakespeare in order to prepare for the performance of a role in a Drama Department production. The focus will be on verse and prose speaking, discovery of character through the language and historical stylistic approach to the performance of Shakespeare on stage. May be taken four times for credit. (CSU/UC)
