(3.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Three lecture hours weekly.) An introductory historical survey to Native American cultures of North America from the pre-colonial period to the present. The course will emphasize the diversity of North American Native cultures and their social and political evolution. A key theme of the course will be the issues of land, political and social interactions with European cultures, and late twentieth century political and economic developments.
