(3.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Three lecture hours weekly.) An introductory historical survey to Native American cultures of North America from the pre-colonial period to the present. The course will emphasize the diversity of North American Native cultures and their social and political evolution. A key theme of the course will be the issues of land, political and social interactions with European cultures, and late twentieth century political and economic developments. (CSU/UC) AA/AS Areas B or F & G, CSU Area D-3 or D-6, IGETC Area 4, CSU US History, Constitution, and American Ideals
