(3.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Three lecture hours weekly.) A study of Western Civilization during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries beginning with the Congress of Vienna and concluding with the contemporary world. This course will examine issues such as the growth of an industrial civilization, nationalism and imperialism, the interaction of the West with the non-Western world, and idealism and realism while using the experience of Western Civilization. Analysis will involve the search for artifacts such as continuity and change in patterns of development and motivation. Note: History 110, 111, and 112 may be taken in any sequence and require no prerequisites.
