(5.0 Units) (Prerequisites: Math 104 or 104XY and Math 105 or satisfactory score on Pre-Calculus Placement Test and Trigonometry Placement Test. Five lecture hours weekly.) Introduction to differential and integral calculus of functions of one real variable. Continuous functions, limit of a function at a point, the derivative. The differentiation formulas and rules for one variable functions, implicit differentiation. The mean value theorem and its application to optimization and curve sketching, linear approximation and differential notation. Introduction to the Riemann integral and the fundamental theorem of calculus. Applications of the Riemann integral to finding areas, volumes of solids of revolutions, work, centroids, and total force on a plane submerged in a fluid.
