(3.0 Units) (No prerequisite. Two lecture and three laboratory hours weekly.) Basic concepts of acoustics, techniques of electronic music synthesis, digital audio, and MIDI. Emphasis on performance/application of these techniques to portable synthesizers and computers. Course includes fundamentals of acoustics, multichannel recording, and editing techniques. Introduction to MIDI digital audio and its computer usage. Supervised "hands-on" practicesessions in addition to required individual lab time. (CSU/UC)
