Corequisites: Music 121, 122, 221, or 222 as determined by standardized placement examination; one major performing ensemble: Music 162, 163, 167, 168, or 169 and class piano: Music 171, 172, 271, or 272. Three lecture and three laboratory hours weekly.) Beginning music theory. Review of scales, key signatures, time signatures, intervals, triads, and seventh chords. Intensive study of four part harmonic progressions including cadences, voice leading and doubling rules, and some nonharmonic tones. (CSU/UC)
